Ruth O. Irwin

Ruth O. Irwin, 85, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was born on September 22, 1931 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of William and Opal (Hinchman) Crews. She married Donald ‘Gene' Irwin on March 14, 1953 and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2012. Ruth was an administrative assistant at the Public Aid Office. She also worked in purchasing and medical records at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. Ruth was a member of The First United Methodist Church. She was active with the Sign of the Kingdom, Campfire Girls and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed playing Bridge and traveling with friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; two brothers, Robert Crews, Walter Crews (Jean); and three sisters Margaret Hunter (Leroy), Marian Swarens (Charles), and Francis Dugan (Robert). Survivors include three daughters, Suellen Irwin (Joe Farina) of Houston, Texas, Beth Deley (Mark) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Janet Caudill (David) of Mooresville, Indiana; and three grandchildren, Katie, Kelsey and Paige Deley. Funeral services will be Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cresthaven Memorial Park.
