Biography
Ruth A. Heckler, 81, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at her residence. She was born January 14, 1935, in Allendale, Illinois, the daughter of Gilbert and Phoebe (Loudermilk) Beal. She married George L. Heckler on November 10, 1951.
Ruth worked at Golden Rule Insurance for 20 plus years. She owned her own sewing shop. Ruth and her husband, George, owned and operated Heckler's Furniture Store just south of Sumner until their retirement.
Ruth enjoyed her flowers and her miniature dachshund dogs.
Preceding Ruth in death were her parents, two brothers and one half-brother.
Survivors include her husband, George, of Sumner; a son, Mark Heckler (Kathy) of Godfrey, Illinois; a daughter, Brenda Heckler of Mattoon, Illinois; two half-sisters, Fern Eckelberry of Flora, Illinois and Virginia Moats of Brush, Colorado; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Andrea, and Rebekah Heckler and lastly her faithful companion, Dolly. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the hour of service of 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
