Russell W. Brashear

Russell W. Brashear, 94, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Friday December 20, 2013 at the United Methodist Village North Campus. He was born October 2, 1919 in Palestine, IL the son of Graydon G. and Goldia Climer Brashear. He married Genevieve Baum. She preceded him in death in March 1975. He then married Evalyn "Dolly" Richardson Frederick on October 3, 1981. She died December 01, 2004. Russell worked in the oil fields as a pumper and a farmer. He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a life member of the VFW and the DAV. He is survived by two sons: Wayne R. and his wife Pam Brashear of Vincennes, IN, Dennis L. and his wife Deana Brashear of Sumner, IL, a daughter: Donna Ruth and her husband Dewey Blair of Oak Park, MI, two step-sons: Don and his wife Evelyn Frederick of Lawrenceville, IL, Gary and his wife Judy Frederick of Griffith, IN, a brother: Jim and his wife Mercedes Brashear of LaPorte, IN, three sisters: Virginia White of Palestine, IL, Ruth Carter and her companion Marlin Correll of Robinson, IL, Joan and her husband Jake Shonk of Robinson, IL, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren, four step-great-great-grandchildren, and special friend in his later years Sheila Brandenburg of Lawrenceville, IL. Along with his parents and wives, five brothers are deceased. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00am at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Zion Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion and VFW. Visitation is Monday from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral Home. Memorial donations may be given to the Good Samaritan Hospice.
