Russel D. Holmes

Russel D. Holmes, age 71, of Lawrenceville, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015. He was born June 5, 1943, in Lawrence County, IL, the son of Clifford F. Holmes and Frances (Carie) Holmes. On November 20, 1976 he married Janice Huffer. She survives. Russel had worked as a farm hand for Finley Farms. He had also worked for Mieure Lumber Company. He was currently working at Wal-Mart in Vincennes, IN. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, IL. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Along with his wife, he is survived by a sister: Shirley Bell of Sumner, IL, a nephew: Jim, and a niece: Melanie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL. Burial will follow at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00pm.
