Roxie "Elaine" Coleman, age 56, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. She was born August 17, 1956, in Centreville, Illinois, the daughter of Roosevelt Coleman, Sr. and Dorothy (Pierson) Granberry. Roxie worked in the Dietary Department at United Methodist Village (North Campus) in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She grew up in Centreville (Golden Gardens), Illinois, attended East St. Louis School District 189 and earned her Associate Degree in Clerical at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Illinois. Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Granberry of Centreville, Illinois; three sons Marcus Coleman (Brandi) of Herrin, Illinois, Montez "Bo" Coleman of Centreville, Illinois and Ra'mond "Chopper" Coleman of Vincennes, Indiana; one daughter Chenelle Coleman of Fairview Heights, Illinois; one brother Robert Coleman (Joann) of Brandywine, Maryland; two sisters Regina Coleman of Centreville, Illinois and Evalena Granberry of Cahokia, Illinois, 10 grandchildren, three aunts, Bertha Goss, Johnnie Mae Jordan, and Kathryn "Aunt Kat" (Bobby) Connors, three uncles Jessie Pierson, Leo "L.C." Pierson, and Booker (Marsha) Jackson, Jr., and special friends Linda (Steve) Blevins and family, and Jane Ketterman and family, and a favorite niece Temekia Coleman. Roxie was preceded in death by her father, a grandmother Luddie "Mother" Jackson, three brothers, Roosevelt Coleman, Jr., Reginald Coleman,Sr. and Ricky Coleman, and one uncle Clifford Jackson. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Friday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. There will be another visitation from 11 AM to 12 PM on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at King Chapel in Cahokia, IL, with funeral services to begin at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Cemetery in Millstadt, Illinois.
