Rose Marie K. Steed

Rose Marie Steed, age 83, of Sugar Land, Texas, a former Lawrenceville resident, passed away March 7, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas. She was born July 11, 1930, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of John Louis and Ida Marie (Niesse) Ferguson. She married James W. Steed, September 4, 1954, and he preceded her in death September 3,1977. Rose Marie was the manager/bookkeeper for the Elks Club #1208 for several years. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land and St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville. She was a former member of the Lawrence Co. Country Club, Elks Club and the VFW. During her years in Lawrenceville, she enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and collecting antiques. Rosie was a loving wife and mother. She is survived by her daughter Patricia and husband James Blake of Sugar Land, Texas and their children, James and Julia, and daughter Leah and husband Brad Lewis of Downers Grove, Illinois and their children, Allysa and Brian. She also has one brother, Louis Ferguson of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Funeral services will be Friday, March 14, 2014 1:00 PM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 AM till 12:45 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society.
