Roger L.

Roger L. Orr, age 81, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away at 4:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at United Methodist Village-North Campus in Lawrenceville. He was born October 4, 1932, in Warren County, Ohio, the son of Paul M. and Dora (Hall) Orr. He married Herbertine J. (Bluebaum) on September 28, 1951, and she passed away August 26, 1989. He then married Iva Mae (Chism) Carter on September 8, 1990 and she survives. Roger worked as a control room operator at Texaco Refinery for 32 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville and was active in the Tuesday Morning Men's Prayer Group. Roger was also a member of the Masons. Roger was also a Lawrence Township Trustee. Preceding Roger in death were his parents and his first wife. Survivors include his wife, Iva Mae Orr, of Lawrenceville, one son Jeff Carter (Sarah) of Newton, Illinois; four daughters Sherry D. Orr of Louisville, Illinois, Julie K. Milligan (David) of Mooresville, Indiana, Julie Thomas (Tom) of Vincennes, Indiana and Jeanne Steffey (Doyle) of rural Flat Rock, Illinois; one brother Charles Orr of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren Brock, Carter, Seth, Ethan and Casey, and one great-grandchild Lilli Ann. Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon Friday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Friday at the funeral home Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Good Samaritan Hospice with envelopes available through the funeral home.
