Robert Raymond Murphy

Robert Raymond Murphy, age 69 of Dyer, Indiana, formerly of Lansing, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025 in rural Bridgeport, Illinois. He was born June 18, 1956, the son of George DeBok and Betty Eck DeBok in Hammond, Indiana. Robert married Susan Murphy and they had three children: Elizabeth, Adam, and Christopher. He then married Donna Herrick September 14, 2003, and she survives.

Robert was a union field welder of heavy equipment. He enjoyed camping, deer & turkey hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, spending time on “the Property” where he was fondly known as “Uncle Bob.” He served his country in the U.S. Navy. His memberships included Millwright Union, American Legion Post 697 in Lansing, Illinois, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 697, and the Moose Lodge in Bridgeport, Illinois.

Preceding Robert in death were his parents; siblings, Linda, Roy, and Verna.

Survivors include wife, Donna; children, Kerry (Jennifer) Bisset of Hobart, Indiana, Elizabeth (Paul) Martin of Highland, Indiana, Adam (Kelly) Murphy of Schererville, Indiana, Christopher (Taylor) Murphy of Highland, Indiana; siblings, Elden (Donna) Seifert, Carl “Buddy” (Tina) Seifert, James “Butch” Seifert, Sheryle Burger; fifteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Robert’s wishes were to be cremated. Services will be announced at a later date.
