Richard L. Vowells

Richard L. Vowells,78, of Sumner, Illinois passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born August 23, 1935, in Christy Township, the son of Leon and Veva (Pepple) Vowells. Richard worked as a music and band instructor for many years. He received the Golden Apple Award from Fairview Heights school system. He was a member of First Christian Church in Lawrenceville for several years and Eastern Star. Richard was a veteran with the United States Army. Preceding Richard in death were his parents and one brother, Larry Vowells. Survivors include a niece, Debbie (Dave) Arnold, of Lawrenceville, Illinois and a nephew, Terry (Debbie) Vowells, of Francisco, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews. Interment of ashes will be at 11 AM Friday at Sumner City Cemetery.
