Richard Lee Tykal, age 77, of rural Lawrenceville passed away October 26, 2010 at his residence. He was born December 10, 1932 in Chicago, IL the son of Henry F. and Mae Gertrude (Thompson) Tykal. He married Marcella Ivers March 7, 1953.Dick served as President of Lawrenceville National Bank and Trust Company. He was the youngest bank president in the state of Illinois at that time. In 1979, he and his wife Marcella opened and operated Tykals American Tavern.Dick was an Army Veteran. He graduated from Indiana University. He was a lifetime member of the Lawrence County Country Club. He was also a member of the Elks, and the Landmans Association.Dick was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors include his wife Marcella of rural Lawrenceville; one son Robert Tykal and friend Katherine of Vincennes, IN; two daughters Janet Tykal of Lawrenceville and Diane Tykal and friend Dale of Bridgeport; one brother Jack B. Tykal and wife Helen of Salt Lake City, UT; six grandchildren Clayton and Kim Simmons, Curtis Simmons, Andrea, Brette, Kathryn, and Richard Andrew Jakubowski; four great-grandchildren Max, Alex, Anna Grace and Jackson, as well as several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Monday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home.Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice with envelopes available through the funeral home.
