Rex Moan, age 78, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away on his 60th wedding anniversary, Friday, July 10, 2026, at his home. He was born on August 29, 1947, the son of Donald Moan and Geneva Perrott Moan. He married Glenda Meadows on July 10, 1966 and she survives.

Rex proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Farming was not only his livelihood but also his life's greatest passion. A lifelong farmer, he began his career as a farmhand for Lloyd and Woodrow Bennett before working alongside his brother-in-law, John Fisher, to establish his own farming operation. In later years, he was proud to farm beside his son, Lonnie, and his grandson, Alec, continuing a family tradition rooted in hard work and dedication. Rex found great satisfaction in working the land, cultivating the soil, and clearing timber to create new farmland.

Dedicated to serving his community, Rex was a member of the Red Hill Unit 10 School Board, the Farm Bureau Board, the Soil and Water Conservation District, and served as a Township Trustee. His faith was an important part of his life, and he faithfully served Beulah Harvest Church as a youth leader, Sunday School teacher, and sound board operator.

Rex will be remembered for his playful spirit, quick wit, and love of teasing those closest to him. In his final days, he was blessed to spend time at home in his sunroom, overlooking the farm he cherished, watching hummingbirds and enjoying the laughter of his family. Above all else, “Pap” treasured time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy and whose memories will forever carry on his legacy.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda; his children, Lonnie and Amy Moan of Sumner, Illinois, Gary and Sonia Gray of Sumner, Illinois, Abram and Nicky Devonshire of Evansville, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Dakotah and Tyler Tussey, Cheyanne and Kurt Knollenberg, Ashton and Matthew Young, Alec Gray and fiancée Rylee, Noel Devonshire, Bram Devonshire and fiancée Allison, and Claire Devonshire; seven great-grandchildren, Tuff Tussey, Tatum Tussey, Pierce Knollenberg, Porter Knollenberg, Addison Young, Rylee Young, and Walker Young; his sister, Donna Wampler of Robinson, Illinois; his brother, Larry “Ed” (Donna) Moan of Sumner, Illinois.
