Retha V. Medlin

Retha V. Medlin, 86, of Mattoon, IL (formerly of Lawrenceville) passed away Thursday December 25, 2008 at Palm Terrace Nursing Home in Mattoon, IL.She was born September 25, 1922 in Sumner, IL the daughter of Claude Odious and Laura Bell (Smith) Culter. On September 26, 1946 she married Paul K. Medlin. He died in 1976.Retha made parachutes during WWII, and then worked various factory jobs. She also worked as a Nurse's Aide in various nursing homes in the area. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church.She is survived by 3 daughters: Linda Jacobs of Urbana, IL, Joan Barrett of Owensville, IN, Leila Culter Streck of Torrence, CA, 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.Graveside services will be conducted Monday December 29, 2008 at 2:00pm at Lawrencevillle City Cemetery.
