Ray D. Tenney

Ray D. Tenney, age 81, of rural Lawrenceville, IL, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born December 17, 1931, in Bridgeport, IL, the son of Everly V. and Stella (Cochran) Tenney. He married Patricia Shipley on August 31, 1952, and she died March 14, 2002. Ray worked at Haliburton Services for 25+ years until retirement. He was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. Survivors include three sons, Donald Ray Tenney of rural Lawrenceville, Victor Lee Tenney and Walter Eugene Tenney both of Clay City; one daughter Teresa Ann Reed (Jeff) of Lawrenceville; three brothers, Roy Tenney of Evansville, IN, Clifford Tenney of California and John Tenney of Wisconsin; one sister Della Travis of Ft. Myers, FL; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, Ray was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Bridgeport City Cemetery with military rites. Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans or the Wounded Warriors Project with envelopes available through the funeral home.
