Ray A. Ford, 99, formally of Lawrence County died Friday February 28, 2014 at Oak Trace Healthcare in Downers Grove, IL. Ray was born on December 21, 1914 in Birds, IL to Lindsay Ford and Alta (Mills) Ford. Ray married Wilma Pappers on July 4, 1937 and she preceded him in death on April 19, 1979.
Ray retired as a foreman from Texaco Corporation. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching football, baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Ray enjoyed spending time with his girls and grandchildren. Ray served in WW II in the Army. He was a member of The Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Lockport, IL.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers; Leo, Omer, Ellis and Ralph and one sister; Juanita Vangilder.
Survivors include his daughters Deborah (James) Stamm of Naperville, IL., and Pamela (James) Johnson of Richmond, KY., two brothers: Marion and Charles Ford and one sister Becky Cox, and four grandchildren.
A private burial will be held at Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
