Randall 'Randy' David Abell

Randall ‘Randy' David Abell, 59, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away August 8, 2016 at his residence. He was born July 28, 1957 in Lukin Township to William Gerald and Floye June (Marx) Abell. He married Violet Galloway on April 17, 1982 and she survives. Randy retired in April 2016 after working for Wabash Valley FS for 26 years. He was an avid mushroom hunter and a member of the Southern Illinois Ridge Runners ATV Club. He was also a Navy Veteran. Preceding Randy in death were his parents; one sister, Elizabeth Mardis of Decatur, Illinois; and one brother, Billy Abell of Sullivan, Illinois. Survivors include his wife, Violet; two sons, Kenny and his wife Laura of Sumner, Illinois and David and his wife Paige of Olney, Illinois; two brothers, G.P. ‘Bub' Abell of Bridgeport, Illinois and Glen Abell and his wife Carol of Sumner, Illinois; two sisters, Annette Riegel and her husband, Troy of Dwight, Illinois and Candi VonBehren and her husband Randy of Blue Mound, Illinois; and three grandchildren, Jacob of Sumner, Illinois and Claire June and Jack David of Olney, Illinois. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 11 at 10:00 AM at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Sumner City Cemetery. Memorial donations in Randy's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
