Phyllis Grove

Phyllis Grove, age 101, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Aperion Care in Bridgeport, Illinois. She was born on June 10, 1923 in Owensville, Indiana, the daughter of Henry and Nellie (Woods) Grigsby. She married Robert L. Grove on June 15, 1945, and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1988.

Phyllis was a homemaker, and worked for the phone company and Lawrenceville Industries. She was a member of the Hi-Way Church of God. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, quilting, and shopping.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; one brother, Vaughan Grigsby; one daughter-in-law, Jenny Grove; and one grandson, Scott Piper.

Survivors include three children, Harold Grove and wife, Judy of Auburndale, Florida, Twyla Piper and husband, David of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and Allen Grove of Bridgeport, Illinois; two brothers, Jerry Grigsby and wife, Cheryl of Auburndale, Florida and Jerald Grigsby of Lawrenceville, Illinois; four grandchildren, Jeff Grove, Matt Grove, Nick Grove, and Jared Grove; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM CDT at the Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Senior Citizens. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
