Peggy Vogel

Peggy Vogel, age 80, of Lawrenceville, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born November 11, 1934, in Billett, IL, the daughter of John Payne, Jr. and Eva Belle (Lockman) Payne. Peggy worked at Central Industries in Lawrenceville. She worked as a waitress and cook at Paul's Inn (now Syd's) and was the inventor of the original taco recipe. Peggy was a former member of the VFW and American Legion. Preceding Peggy in death were her parents; one son William Carl "Bill" Rinke; three brothers, Paul E. Payne, Bobby Jo Payne and Jackie Payne; three sisters Maxine Wright, Betty Tredway, and Mary Alice Payne. Survivors include one son, Scott Vogel of Lawrenceville; two daughters, Linda Barker and Janice Lockhart both of Lawrenceville; three sisters Suzanne Ryan of Lawrenceville, Sally Fleetwood of Lawrenceville, and Lynn Roberts of Dallas, TX; eight grandchildren, Aaron Griggs of Lawrenceville, Jennifer Milligan of Bridgeport, Jeremy Lockhart of Bridgeport, Amy Lockhart of Vincennes, Melissa Lockhart of Bridgeport, Heather Lockhart of Lawrenceville, Cassie Vogel of Lawrenceville, and Kelly Keusch of Vincennes as well as 12 great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Rylan Griggs of Lawrenceville, Ryan, Lakin, and Addie Mills of Bridgeport, Braden Lockhart and Landon Lockhart of Bridgeport, Kirstyn Land, Hannah Jones of Vincennes, Indiana, Colton Lockhart and Jaxson Swick of Bridgeport, and Cooper White of Lawrenceville. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Billett Cemetery.
