Patricia Ann Jurgens

Patricia Ann Jurgens, age 73, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at home due to the effects of cancer. Patricia was born March 21, 1937 in Posey County, IN to Arthur M. and Helen Marie (Sailor) Carroll and lived on a farm in Solitude, IN. She graduated from Mt. Vernon, Indiana High School in 1955 and from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis in 1958. She married C. Stan Jurgens September 3, 1960 who survives.After a nursing career of 44 years, she retired from the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital where she worked for 25 of those years.Pat was preceded in death by her parents.Survivors include her husband Stan; one son Jeffrey (Hope) Jurgens of Benton, IL; one daughter Tamara (John) Gamrat of DuQuoin, IL; two grandchildren Cody and Chris Jurgens of Benton, IL; one brother David (Cheryl) Carroll of Mt. Vernon, IN; one sister Nancy Taber of West Jefferson, NC; one sister-in-law Carol (Jon) Gust of Bradenton, FL; one brother-in-law Clinton (Linda) Jurgens of Folsom, CA; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.As per Pats request, there will be no formal funeral service and the body will be cremated.The family of Patricia Jurgens invites all of her family and friends to a garden party in her honor at the family home at 2004 Maple Street in Lawrenceville. This will be a remembrance of Pat in the garden, which was her pride and joy. Anyone wishing to give testimony about Pats life is encouraged to do so. We will open our home and gardens to everyone, Saturday afternoon, May 8, 2010 from 2 to 4 pm with cookies and punch provided.Memorials in Pats honor may be given to the Lawrence County Humane Society and/or the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital with envelopes available through the funeral home.
