Parrott

Biography Geneva Parrott, 98, formerly of Chauncey, Illinois, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Aperion Care in Bridgeport. She was born on February 13, 1917, in Richland County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Edward A. and Jessie (Hart) Paddick. She attended Charleston Teacher's College where she received her elementary education certificate. Then, at age 19, she taught her first year at her home school, Prairie Hall Grade School, teaching some pupils who were her former schoolmates. She later taught at elementary schools in Lawrence and Crawford Counties, including Chauncey, where she became principal, taught grades 5 through 8, coached basketball and softball teams, and organized music programs. She retired from Sumner Elementary after 28 years of service. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oris Parrott; and a sister, Eutana Meek. She is survived by her niece, Rita Stagg, of Henderson, KY. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the Chauncey Cemetery, with Jodi Finley officiating.
