Myrtle F. Kiser McNew died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. She was born September 7, 1927 to Jacob and Ella Mae Lott in Douglas, Georgia. Myrtle married Merrill Eugene Gene Kiser on June 11, 1945 in Forestville, Maryland. They had five children, Barbara (Harry) Minniear of Lancaster, Illinois; Terry (Gloria) Kiser of Starkville, Mississippi; Shirley (Robert) Waggoner of Holland, Indiana; David (Gail) Kiser of Sumner, Illinois; and Sandra (Paul) Dossett of Mt. Carmel, IL; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. One sister, Lillian Lott of Broxton, Georgia, survives. Myrtles first husband, two brothers and one granddaughter preceded her in death. In 2002, Myrtle met James McNew and they were married May 19, 2003. He survives.Also surviving are one step-son Jim (Pat) McNew; and four step-daughters Sue (Kenneth) Cessna, Karan (Earl Corky) Brown, Pam (David) Logan, and Crystal (Joe) Arnold.Myrtle and Gene were members of Gilead Presbyterian Church while their children were still home. Later, they became members of Lancaster Church of Christ.Myrtle enjoyed her role as a mother and homemaker. She also worked several years as a CNA at Richland Memorial Hospital, a very rewarding profession, caring for the sick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lancaster Church of Christ through the funeral home.Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner. Burial will follow in the Gilead Cemetery.Friends may call from 2 to 4 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
