Micheal P. Macey

Micheal P. Macey, age 70, of rural Lawrenceville, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014, at his residence. He was born November 22, 1943, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Joseph R. and Mary (Fitch) Macey. He married Karole Clark on April 18, 1969, and she survives. Mike worked for Charles Emmons at the Emmons Funeral Home from 1965 until 1974. He then owned and operated the Emmons-Macey Funeral Home from 1974 until his retirement in December, 2004, and the Sivert-Macey Funeral Home from 1984 to 2004. Mike was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Other memberships include the Elks, VFW Men's Auxiliary, American Legion, Lawrenceville Rotary, and 40 et 8. He served as Lawrence Township Supervisor for 12 years and currently serving the Bank of Lawrence County as a bank board director. Mike was a veteran, having served with the Marine Reserves. Mike will always be remembered for his warm smile, sense of humor and his devotion to the families he served as a funeral director. His unconditional love and devotion to his wife, children, and grandchildren will live in their hearts forever. Preceding Mike in death were his parents, an infant son, Micheal Scott Macey, and one brother Dan. Survivors include: his wife, Karole, of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois; three daughters, Alison (Greg) Kincaid of Palestine, Illinois, Michelle McKnight of Lawrenceville, and Emily (Darrel) Bobe of Vincennes, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Abby Bezy, Graydon Kincaid, Marie McKnight, Hunter McKnight, Logan McKnight, Gannon Bobe, Gage Bobe, and Ella Bobe and one great-grandchild Bennett Frey. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
