Michael Thomas Kirkland, 53, of Sumner, IL passed away Sunday afternoon at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.Born January 27, 1955 in Thomaston, GA, he was the son of Thomas Edison and Mary Catherine (McKinley) Kirkland. Following the death of his mother, he was raised by Opal (Stout) Kirkland. On June 18, 1976 he married Susan Wright. She survives.Mike was a Supervisor at Jabat INC. in Olney, IL. He was a member of the Chauncey Church of God.Survivors include: a son: Shawn (Stephanie) Kirkland of Olney, IL, a daughter: Misty Kirkland of Vincennes, IN, 2 sisters: Debra Rosborough of Sumner, IL, Donna Strom of Thomaston, GA , a grandfather: James H. McKinley of Thomaston, GA, and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, and a nephew: Cody Rosborough.The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00am at the Chauncey Church of God with burial to follow at the Chauncey Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.Memorial donations may be given to the Chauncey Church of God.
