Melvin Leroy Griesemer

Melvin Leroy Griesemer, 70, of Bridgeport, IL passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.He was born September 20, 1938 in Lawrence County, IL the son of Melvin T. and Florence (Edmondson) Griesemer.He worked for General Motors Corporation in Chicago. He was also a mechanic. He was a member of the Olive Branch Church. He served in the US Army during Vietnam.He is survived by a son: Steve Griesemer of Arkansas, 3 daughters: Cathy and Ed Brewer of Lockport, IL, Tammy and John Anderson of Coles City, IL, Tracy Griesemer of Florida, 2 brothers: Leonard Griesemer of Olney, IL, Vernon Griesemer of Allendale, IL, 2 sisters: Hazel Hills of Lawrenceville, IL, Thelma Gaither of Bridgeport, IL and 6 grandchildren. Two brothers and 3 sisters are deceased.The funeral will be Friday at 3:00pm at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, IL with burial to follow at the Sumner Cemetery.Visitation is also Friday from 2:00 to the service hour of 3:00pm.
