Melita Harriet Powell

Melita Harriet Powell, 98, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Monday December 19, 2011 at the United Methodist Village North Campus in Lawrenceville, IL. She was born March 22, 1913 in New Lexington, OH the daughter of Charles S. and Maude (Duffield) Bair. On August 31, 1935 she married Melvin Powell. He died October 2, 2008. Melita was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville. To know her was to love her. Surviving are a son: Jeffrey Powell of Bloomington, IN, a sister: Gloria Hughes of Ft. Meyers, FL, two grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one daughter Carolyn Shannon and one brother and four sisters. The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation for the thoughtful care provided by the staff of the United Methodist Village North Campus. There are no formal services being conducted.
