Biography
Geneva Maxine Crawford, age 97, of South Bend, IN (formerly of Flat Rock, IL) passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 at Mitchells Country Care in South Bend, IN. She was born February 02, 1915 in Lawrence County, IL. to Elmer Pinkstaff and Amanda (Griffin) Pinkstaff. She married Jacob Ivan Crawford on May 01, 1937 and he preceded her in death on March 05, 1975.
Maxine was a schoolteacher for 30 years. She taught at Hazel Dell, Russellville, Bridgeport and Seed schools. She was a farmer's wife and was a member of the Allison Prairie Church of the Brethren. Maxine enjoyed being a part of the Women's Christian Fellowship at the church. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed crocheting, as well as loved being with her family and neighbor's.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Wilmeth Frances Adams, one brother; 1st Lt. Levi Wilson Pinkstaff and grandson Michael Wayne Crawford.
Survivors include her son Ronald (Joanne) Crawford, daughter; Jan Crawford, sister; Zetta Marie Sellers; granddaughter; Rhonda Lynn(Mitchell) Owens; great-grandchildren; Eden Monet Owens and Autumn Faith Owens.
Visitation will be Tuesday October 09, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Emmons-Macey& Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday October 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Allison Prairie Church of the Brethren Women's Fellowship, (COBWF), envelopes available through the funeral home. The family would like to say thank you to Dorothy Mitchell Family and staff for the wonderful care and support given to their family.
Burial will follow at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
