Mattie Ruth Johnson

Mattie Ruth Johnson, 91, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Sunday November 9, 2014 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, IL. She was born May 7, 1923 in Lawrence County, IL the daughter of Lewis and Georgia (Potts) Williams. On April 1, 1941 she married Earl William Johnson Jr. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1981. Mattie had worked in the Lawrence County Recorder's Office for twenty-five plus years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville. She was a member of Delta Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 50 plus years Survivors include two sons: Earl Johnson and his wife Anita of Hawk Point, MO, Terry Johnson and his wife Rita of Lawrenceville, IL, six grandchildren: Eric, Troy, Brad, Brian, Suzanne, and Alex, and 8 great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be conducted Friday at 2:00pm at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. There is no visitation. Memorial donations may be given to the Lawrence County Humane Society.
