Mary Jane Rand, 82, of Lawrenceville, passed away Wednesday December 8, 2010 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.She was born November 11, 1928 the daughter of the late Lan and Evaline (Brown) Harvey. She was retired from General Telephone Company of Illinois with 28 years service.Her first husband, Elvin E. McKeighen, whom she married in 1946, is deceased. Six brothers: Prior, Henry, Fred, Woodrow, Lyle, and Glen Harvey, and two sisters: Mildred Cox, and Pearlie Brinkman Brunson are also deceased.She married Paul L. Rand in 1992, and he is deceased. Surviving are 3 nieces: Joan Cox and Sandra Harvey of Lawrenceville, IL, and Janet Cox of Tuscola, IL, two step-sons: Richard Rand of Lawrenceville, IL, Paul Michael Rand of West Des Moines, IA, a step-daughter: Linda Johnson of Washington, IN, 8 step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother-in-law: Eugene McKeighen and a sister-in-law Roxie Cochran both of Lawrenceville, IL along with several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and also a member of the United Methodist Village Auxiliary, Chi Rho Circle, United Methodist Womens Organization, First United Methodist Church Handbell Choir and Healing Winds Flute Choir in Lawrenceville, IL and has filled the position of guest organist there periodically. She has been a full time volunteer at Knox County Chapter of the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, and the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association. She was a full time volunteer of the Sign of the Kingdom East for 15 years. She was a member of the Red Hill Dulcimer Society.The funeral will be Friday December 10, 2010 at 10:00am at the First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville. Burial will follow at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
