Mary Marguerite Poland

Mary Marguerite Burbank Poland, age 100, of Oaktown, Indiana, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Bridgepointe Health Campus in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born December 20, 1913, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the daughter of Willard Carpenter Burbank and Eliza May (Haines) Burbank. She married Sherman Leon Poland on April 15, 1933, and he died March 13, 2003. Mary was a homemaker and a nurse's aide. She was a member of Island Free Methodist Church. Preceding Mary in death were her parents, her husband Sherman; three brothers, Harry Burbank, Willard "Gene" Burbank and Paul Burbank and one sister Lydia Wilborn. Survivors include a son, Stephen G. (Sue) Poland of Ionia, Michigan; a daughter, Arlene Poland Naphy of Oaktown, Indiana; five grandchildren, William G. Naphy of Scottland, Donald L. Naphy of Alabama, Renee Poland, Heather (Carl) Sizemore, and Jonathan (Cara) Poland, all of Michigan; three great-grandchildren, Fiona Poland, Sherman Poland, and Eleanor Poland, all of Michigan. Graveside services will be conducted at11:00 AM Wednesday at Derr Cemetery with LeeAnn West officiating. There is no visitation.
