Mary "LaReta" Davis, age 94, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Aperion Care in Bridgeport, Illinois. She was born April 16, 1925 in Paris, Illinois, the daughter of Willard and Ima (Fyffe) Albert. She married Clyde Davis, Jr. on June 15, 1946, and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2008.
LaReta was a farmwife and enjoyed gardening. She took the time to send letters and cards. During the Vietnam War, she sent many letters to the soldiers serving our country.
Preceding in her death were her husband of 61 years, Clyde; parents; and one sister Dorothy "Dottie" Cotterell.
Survivors include: one son, Dale Davis, of Sumner, Illinois; two daughters, Sheryl Hobbs and husband, Robert, of Sumner, Illinois, Mary Lou Tucker and husband, Harold, of Bridgeport, Illinois; and five grandchildren, Lou Ann Hobbs, Kevin Tucker, Dave Hobbs, Kelly Tucker, J.C. Davis; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday at 12:00 noon until the service hour of 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Waggoner West Cemetery. Memorial donations in LaReta's memory may be made to Chauncey Community Club.
