Martin E. Mieure, 85, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Sunday August 28, 2011 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1926 in Lawrence County, IL the son of Gus and Bessie (Nelson) Mieure. On April 6, 1947 he married Norma Lee Kelly. She survives.
He and his wife Norma owned and operated Mieure Lumber Company, formerly the Kelly Bandmill. He served in the United States Marines during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Elks. He was a supporter of Little League. He was an avid hunter and mushroom hunter.
Along with his wife, he is survived by three sons: Robert and his wife Marsha Mieure of Sullivan, IN, Lyle Mieure of Lawrenceville, IL, Doug and his wife Julie Mieure of Lawrenceville, IL, a brother: Jerry Mieure of Robinson, IL, two sisters: Thelma Atkins of Bridgeport, IL, Edna Ahlfield of Mason City, IL, six grandchildren: Quentin, Mieure, Hannah Mieure, Eric Mieure, Alex Mieure, Emily Mieure, Brooks and and his wife Jessica Mieure, and two great grandchildren: Katy Mieure, and Jarron Mieure.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Visitation is also Saturday from 1:00pm until the service hour of 2:00pm. Burial will be at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to Lawrenceville Little League or to the Lawrenceville Girls Softball Assn.
