Martha Jane Wells

Martha Jane Wells, age 83, of rural Bridgeport passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville. Born July 6, 1928 in Lawrence County, IL she was the daughter of Frank and Hazel (Wright) Harvey. She married Clifford Well October 29, 1949 and he preceded her in death May 4, 1982. Martha worked at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital as a nursing assistant for 26+ years before retirement. She was a member of the Billett United Methodist Church. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifford, and one brother Francis. Survivors include four sons Ed Wells (Phyllis) of Lawrenceville, Donald Wells (Donna) of Johnson City, TN, Glen Wells (Cindy) and Mike Pinkstaff (Shirley) all of Bridgeport; one daughter Vickie Lockhart (Jim) of Bridgeport; one brother Arthur Lee Harvey of Las Cruces, NM; one sister Ila Jean Shick of Billett; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home with visitation from 12 noon until the service hour of 2:00pm. Burial will be in the Billett Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the Lawrenceville Senior Citizens.
