Martha N. Rumble

Martha N. Rumble, age 84, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away March 26, 2011 at her residence. She was born August 19, 1926 in Lawrenceville, IL the daughter of Orville R. and Edna (Moore) Newell. She married Elijah T. Rumble and he passed away October 29, 1989. Martha was a school teacher in Chicago Heights, IL for 24 years. She was also a pastor at Free Methodist Church in Newton, IL and Decker, Indiana. Martha was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, a member of DAR, WCTU and the Retired Teachers Association of Illinois. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elijah, six brothers and two sisters. Survivors include one son Raymond Travis Rumble of Phoenix, AZ, two sisters Esther L. Spinner of LaQuinta, CA and Florence I. Bogert of San Jose, CA, as well as two grandchildren. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, 1303-12th Street, Lawrenceville, IL. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Free Methodist Church in Lawrenceville with envelopes available at the funeral home.
