Martha L. Brian

Martha L. Brian, age 92, of Sumner, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, December 02, 2020 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was born on January 15, 1928 in Toulon, Illinois, the daughter of Fred Leslie and Merle Hazel (Fox) Wagner. Martha married Emmett L. Brian on December 24, 1946, and he preceded her in death on December 25, 1991.

Martha was a farmwife. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Vincennes. Her hobbies included doing puzzles, reading, watching gameshows, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; one son, Daniel Brian; four brothers, Glen, Charles, Ralph, and Harold; six sisters, Ruth, Edna, Alma Jean, Alberta, Carol, and Mary; one grandson, Benjamin Brian; and one daughter-in-law, Alberta Brian.

Survivors include three sons, James Brian and wife, Stella of Sumner, Illinois, David Brian of Sumner, Illinois, and Larry Brian and wife, Karla of Olney, Illinois; four brothers, Albert Wagner of Tiskilwa, Illinois, Russell Wagner of Sheffield, Illinois, Richard Wagner of Greenup, Illinois, and Clarence Wagner of Princeton, Illinois; one sister, Grace Kratz of Victorville, California; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and she was anticipating the arrival of three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, December 04, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Sumner Cemetery. The funeral home requests that the COVID-19 guidelines be observed. Memorial donations may be made to the Central Church of Christ in Vincennes. Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
