Marjorie was the daughter of Charles and Adelle (Ryan) Kirkwood and the youngest of four children. Her parents passed away within 24 hours of each other during the flu epidemic of 1918. Marjorie was about 14 months of age at that time and was raised by her father's brother Ed Kirkwood and his wife Inez.
Marjorie graduated from the Lawrenceville High School and attended Vincennes Business College. During the war, she worked at The Texas Company and later for a number of years was in the office of the County Supt. of Schools.
Marge, as she was called, was an avid sport enthusiast, nature lover, and traveler. She also loved her bridge games. Her husband of 51 years passed away in 1993. Marge was a member for over 70 years of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She is survived by nieces, cousins and especially her devoted companion, Mr. Gene Andis. Also surviving are two very loyal and devoted friends and caregivers, Bill and Bonnie Kocher.
At Marjorie's request, there will be no services.
Memorials may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society with envelopes available through the funeral home.
