Marjorie Hazel Shinkle

Marjorie Hazel Shinkle, age 87, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025 at her home.  She was born September 7, 1937, in Caldwell, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas Woodrow Hudson and Kaleta Fern LaLicker Hudson.  She married Burl J. Shinkle on September 6, 1958, and he survives.

Marjorie was a 1959 graduate of Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky.  She earned her Master’s Degree from IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She was a teacher and educator.  As a pastor’s wife, Marjorie served alongside her husband in the various churches and communities they were serving and pastoring, specializing in music.  Marjorie taught piano lessons over the years.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and music.

Preceding Marjorie in death were her parents, and brother, Robert Dean Hudson.

Survivors include: her husband, Burl J.; two sons, Daniel (Dr. Rachel Winters) Shinkle of rural Lawrenceville, Brian (Sonja) Shinkle of Browns, Illinois; two sisters, Maryann Frye of Summers, Arkansas and Sheryl Wall of Greenville, Illinois; five grandchildren, Ilana Shinkle, Victoria Shinkle, Thomas Shinkle, Abbie Moore, and Andrew Moore.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 21, 2025, 3:00 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois.  Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. till the service hour of 3:00 p.m.  Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrenceville Senior Citizens.
