Lois M. Ross

Lois M. Ross, age 91, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, formerly of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She was born on June 18, 1930 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the daughter of Roy Andrew and Fannie (Cessna) Gardner. She married Herbert D. Ross on April 30, 1948, and he preceded her in death on February 26, 2016, after nearly 68 years of marriage.

Lois worked for the Social Security Administration in Vincennes and as a columnist for the Sumner Press Newspaper. She was a member of the Lawrenceville Free Methodist Church. Her hobbies included painting, antiquing, crafting, sewing, writing, cooking, and humor.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and two sisters, Shirley Ankenbrand and Kathleen Littlejohn.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Garnam of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren, Wendy Vasquez and April Stiffler; as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 03, 2021 at 11:00 AM CST at the Lawrenceville Free Methodist Church, and may be viewed with the following link: https://www.facebook.com/emmonsmaceysteffey . Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM CST at the church. Burial will be in the Petty Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Salvation Army. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
