Linda Sue Whitson

Linda Sue Whitson, age 78, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born on August 22, 1942 in East Chicago, Indiana, the daughter of Wayne G. and Catherine (Lewis) Shaw. She married Charles M. Whitson on August 16, 1963, and he preceded her in death on April 23, 2021.

Linda owned her own beauty shop for 30 years on 12th Street in Lawrenceville, and worked at the United Methodist Village for ten years. She enjoyed landscaping, gardening, quilting, baking; and she spent many years antiquing with her friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and two children, Cathy Whitson and Jason Whitson.

Survivors include one son, Todd Whitson and significant other, Maryjane Wilson of East Alton, Illinois; one grandson, Brandon Shoulders and wife, Haley; caregivers and good friends of Linda, Theresa Greene, Paula Blevins, Nancy Tewell, Brenda Shelton, Lois Earnst, and Penny Mills; as well as her antiquing friend, Juda Woods.

Private graveside services will be conducted at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrenceville Seniors Citizens Center, Lawrence County Cancer Resource Center & Wig Shop, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
