Linda Sue Griesemer

Linda Sue Griesemer, age 74, of Shelbyville, Illinois, formerly of Allendale, Illinois, passed away at 10:22 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022 in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, Illinois. She was born on April 04, 1948 in Lukin Township, Lawrence County, Illinois, the daughter of Ivan and Marjorie Jane (Howe) Hair. She married Vernon Ray Griesemer on September 25, 1966 in Lawrence County, Illinois, and they were married for 54 years.

Linda graduated from Bridgeport High School in the Class of 1966. She touched the lives of many through her work supporting the medical practice of Dr. Larry Herron in Lawrenceville for more than 20 years. She later worked at medical offices and hospitals in Lawrence and Wabash Counties.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon on March 17, 2020; and sister, Marylin Kocher.

She is survived by her son, Michael Ray Griesemer (Wendy) of Shelbyville, Illinois; daughter, Susan Griesemer Murphy (John) of St. Louis, Missouri; six grandchildren, Brice Griesemer (Janie), Monica Griesemer, Kathleen Yeager (Scott), Todd Wittler, Patrick Murphy and Jacqueline Murphy; great-grandchildren, Hallie and Henry Griesemer, and Chloe Yeager; and sisters, Brenda Weiler of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Marie Smith of Bridgeport, Illinois.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, October 01, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. CDT at Shelbyville First United Methodist Church, 205 West Main Street, Shelbyville, Illinois 62565. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, Illinois. A visitation will be on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. CDT at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, Illinois and on Saturday, October 01, 2022 from 9:30 until 10:00 a.m. CDT at the Shelbyville First United Methodist Church. Memorials may be given to Shelbyville First United Methodist Church – Sound System Fund or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
