Lilburn L.D. Berry, age 91, of Lawrenceville, IL, passed away August 12, 2014. He was born January 10, 1923 in Lawrenceville, IL. L.D. was the son of Virgil Berry and Eva Marie (Sanders) Berry.
L.D. graduated from Bridgeport High School and served in the Navy during WWII.
He was an accountant for Northrup Grumman in Los Angeles, CA, a company making missiles and airplanes. L.D. resided in Anaheim, CA for many years. He was also a member of AARP and an avid member of the USC Booster Club. He also did extensive traveling in his retirement.
Preceding L.D. in death were his parents; one brother, D. Berry; one sister, Patty Yoho; and
two nephews, Michael Berry and Tom Pruitt.
Survivors include one sister, Peggy Pruitt of Lawrenceville, IL; five nieces: Dea Weger of rural Bridgeport, IL; Janet Thomas of Lawrenceville, IL; Jane Flannagan and her husband Duane of Jasper, IN; Jo Bailey of Houston, TX; and Brenda Lindsey and her husband Bill of FL. One nephew, Jeff Pruitt and his wife Debby of Jacksonville, FL also survives. L.D. was survived by several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM Friday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in
Lawrenceville. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
