Lena L. Lawrence

Lena L. Lawrence, age 93, of Sumner, IL passed away Friday, December 30, 2011 at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel. She was born April 15, 1918 in English, Indiana the daughter of Della B. and Anna (Smitley) Enlow. She married Joseph Theodore Lawrence February 27, 1937 and he passed away October 8, 2000. Lena and her husband owned and operated two restaurants in Hammond, as well as the White Diner and the Ambraw Café in Lawrenceville. She also worked as a beautician. Lena was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting and painting. Survivors include two sons Max (Claudia) Lawrence of Sumner, IL and Glen A. (Donna) Lawrence of Browns, IL; one brother Donald Enlow of Robinson, IL; five sisters Ruby Scoville of Carol Stream, IL, Edith Caudle of Mt. Carmel, IL, Mary Jane Fischer of Phoenix, AZ, Frances Anderson of Princeton, IN, and Shirley Rich of Hobart, IN; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband "Ted", and five brothers. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 am until the hour of service at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Billett Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sign of the Kingdom-West with envelopes available at the funeral home.
