Laveta Wells

LaVeta Wells, age 87, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away Saturday, March 09,2013, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born April 25, 1925, in Wayne County, IL to Ralph and Wreatha Burgess Lane. She married Paul Wells December 4, 1943, and he passed away on November 8, 2008. LaVeta worked at the Bridgeport Nursing Home as the head cook and also worked at Suttle Apparatus in Lawrenceville. She was a member at Shiloh Baptist Church. LaVeta was a Cardinals fan, she enjoyed cooking and traveling, and being with her family. She was a member of the Republican Party where she also served on their election board. LaVeta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son; Danny Wells, brother; Archie Lane, and one grandson; Sean Wells. LaVeta is survived by her son; Gary (Brenda) Wells of Bridgeport, IL; daughter; Darla (Chris) Black of Newburgh, IN, brother; Leon Lane of Flora, IL; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at the Emmons-Macey and Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday at 11 AM at the Emmons-Macey and Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL. Burial will follow at Cresthaven Memorial Park in Claremont, IL. Memorial donations can be made to Shiloh Baptist Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
