Kenneth W. Phillips

Kenneth W. Phillips December 17, 1942 - August 17, 2014 Kenneth W. Phillips, age 71, of Robinson, Illinois, (formerly of Landes) passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Helia Health Care in Olney. He was born December 17, 1942, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Brooks and Gerry (Scaggs) Phillips. He married Elizabeth K. "Betty" Griswold on March 9, 1968, and she passed away March 17, 2012. Kenny attended Bridgeport High School. He worked for Illinois Department of Transportation in road maintenance for 27 years until his retirement. Kenny also farmed for most of his life. In his early years, he was a member of the Chauncey Ruritan and the Chauncey Fire Department. Preceding Kenny in death were his father and his wife Betty. Survivors include his mother, Gerry Phillips of Bridgeport, two sons John (Brenda) Phillips of Newton, Illinois and Jeff (Jody) Phillips of Effingham, Illinois; one daughter Angie (Brent) Leffler of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; one sister Betty Rhinehart of Lawrenceville, three grandchildren Hannah Phillips, Eric and Tiffany Leffler. Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Memorial Medical Center Foundation-Kidney Transplant, which is affiliated with Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
