Kenneth M. Maxwell

Kenneth M. Maxwell, age 89, of Arthur, Illinois (formerly of Lawrenceville), passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013, in Decatur, Illinois. He was born September 9, 1924, in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Reid and Mary (Berry) Maxwell. He married Lois Peerman on October 15, 1949. Kenneth worked as a stillman at Texaco Refinery for 31 years. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Other memberships include American Legion, VFW, and Elks. Kenneth served with the United States Navy during WWII. Preceding Kenneth in death were his parents, one brother, Gaylord, and a sister Nedra. Survivors include his wife Lois of Arthur, Illinois; one son Kenneth "Van" Maxwell (Kathy) of Alexandria, Kentucky; two daughters Rita Johnson (Terry) of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Theresa Nave (Michael) of Arcola, Illinois; three brothers Donald Maxwell (Wilma) of Robinson, Illinois, Wilfred Maxwell (LaVene) of Flat Rock, Illinois, Clark Maxwell (Shirley) of California; three sisters Barbara Steen of California, Joan Lowe (Jack) of Texas and Janice Coan (Tom) of California; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Saturday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Arthur Home, 423 Eberhardt Drive, Arthur, Illinois, 61911, or to St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville.
