Kay Dian (Leighty) Fowler, 79, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at Christus Grace Home in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was born on September 14, 1936 to Kenneth Ray and Virginia Keplinger Leighty in Allendale, Illinois. She was married to William (Bill) Fowler.
Kay was best known for working at the family business, Syd's Tavern in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She loved to sing and play piano. She was baptized at First Christian Church in Allendale, Illinois and attended church at the Church and Christ in Robinson, Illinois.
Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Jerry Leighty.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years; daughter Gala J (Gordon) Fowler Oswalt of Bossier City, Louisiana; sons William Brent (Carolyn) Fowler of Sundance, Wyoming, and Kenneth H Fowler of Bossier City, Louisiana; a brother Larry Brent (Shirley) Leighty of LaRose, IL, nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois.
Burial will follow at the Keplinger Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
