Kathryn Thompson

Kathryn M. Thompson, age 86, of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born October 30, 1928, in Lawrenceville, the daughter of Troyed C. and Clella (Struble) Gibson. She married John R. Thompson, III on December 21, 1952, and he died September 16, 1995. Kathryn was employed at Smith Sales, which later became King's Great Buys, where she worked for 63 years until her retirement. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. She was a member of Eastern Star, DAR, and Home Extension. Preceding Kathryn in death were her parents and her husband John. Survivors include a son, J.R. Thompson and his wife Sandy, of rural Lawrenceville; a brother, Dale Gibson and his wife Carol Sue of Franklin, Indiana; two sisters, Alice Hardway and her husband Kenneth of Springfield, Illinois and Karen Cunningham and her husband David of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; two grandchildren, Johnna Thompson (J.R. Humphrey) and John R. Thompson, VI (Kalena Wagner), and two great-grandchildren, Rory & Rhys Thompson. Funeral services will be at 10 AM Saturday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church with envelopes available through the funeral home.
