Kathryn M. âKayâ Godwin, 81, of Lawrenceville, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009.Born Kathryn Mathilda Hemmer in Holland, Indiana on October 2, 1927, Kay graduated from Lockyear Business College, Evansville, IN. She worked at Golden Rule Insurance Company and then as loan officer at Production Credit Association (PCA) until her retirement. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, the Christian Womenâs Association, and an officer of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 28.Surviving family include Kayâs husband of fifty-eight years, Rex L. Godwin, daughters Carol Houston and husband Kent, and Jan Parsons; grandchildren Travis Piper and wife Andrea, and Kristin Piper and fianceâ Seth Kent; great-grandson Dayton Piper; as well as many nieces and nephews.The family thanks the staff of Lawrence County Health Department Home Agency and the staff of Good Samaritan Hospital.Funeral services are planned for 3:00 p.m. (CST) Friday, March 6, 2009 at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, 1303-12th Street, Lawrenceville, IL. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm (CST) at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to: First United Methodist Church, P.O.
