Kaden Andrew Meek, 20, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and a heart that never hesitated to serve others. His life, though brief, was filled with purpose, passion, and the love of family, friends, and community.
Kaden was a 2023 graduate of Lawrenceville High School and a 2025 graduate of the Vincennes University Advanced Manufacturing Technology program. During his studies, he completed an internship with Hershey Manufacturing in Robinson, Illinois, where he strengthened the mechanical skills he was so proud of. He was employed at Kennedy Auto Care in Palestine, Illinois, where he brought dedication, talent, and a strong work ethic to every job.
Kaden had a loving heart and a gentle spirit. He treasured time spent with family and friends and was always willing to help a neighbor, lend a hand, or brighten someone’s day. His kindness and generosity made him a beloved presence in the lives of many.
Kaden grew up on the river and the sandbars, where he developed a lifelong love for boating, fishing, and the peaceful rhythm of the water. The river was a place where he felt free, grounded, and connected to the people he loved. Those memories—sunny days on the boat, fishing poles in hand, and laughter echoing across the water—will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
Kaden had a deep love for drag racing—a passion that shaped many of his happiest days. He cherished long race weekends, the roar of engines, the smell of fuel and rubber, and the friendships built at the track. When he wasn’t racing, he could be found tinkering with project cars, always elbows‑deep in something mechanical. Kaden was never one to sit still; he lived in motion, always building, fixing, learning, and helping.
He also held a strong love for the American flag and the values it represents. His patriotism was sincere and deeply rooted, reflected in the pride he took in his work, his community, and the people he cared about.
Kaden could be recognized anywhere by his larger‑than‑life smile, a smile that lit up every room, every garage, and every racetrack he stepped into. It was a smile that made people feel welcome, supported, and seen—and it will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He attended Rising Sun Christian Church, where he enjoyed fellowship and looked forward to the monthly breakfast gatherings that brought the congregation together.
Kaden is survived by his parents, Keeley and Brandi Meek; his brother, Keegan Meek; his grandparents, Kenny and Sharon Meek; and his great‑grandmother, Rita Meek. He is also survived by his uncles Kyle Meek (Shannon), Kevin Meek (Ashley), and Tony Ray (Jennifer), JR Ray (Tammy); along with several great‑aunts, great‑uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Barbara Meek, and his maternal grandparents, Carroll Rice, and Wally and Phyllis Rice, Uncle James Rice, Great-Grandparent Larry Meek and Chuck Potts, Great-Great Grandfather Bernard Ostendorf.
Kaden’s life was full—full of passion, full of purpose, and full of love. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy of kindness, hard work, and joy will live on through the many lives he touched.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 11:00 am at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Charlottesville Cemetery on Thursday.
