Judith Ann Kirkwood

Judith Ann Kirkwood, 77, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospice on Thursday, January 21, 2016. She was born on Christmas Day 1938, in Vincennes, Indiana the daughter of Delbert "Gene" Rooney and Marguerite (Hill) Rooney.  Judith is survived by her husband, Dr. Michael T. Kirkwood, two sons, Joel T. Kirkwood of Evansville, Indiana and Scott Kirkwood of Las Vegas, Nevada, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Upon graduation from Vincennes Lincoln High School in 1956, where she was a popular cheerleader, Judith obtained her B.A. and M.A. in teaching at Indiana State University. She taught grades one through three in the Crawfordsville, Indiana area and finished her teaching career as "Miss Judy" at Riley Elementary School in Vincennes in 1968, as a much loved Kindergarten teacher.  She enjoyed many years living in Lawrenceville, Illinois, where she belonged to the Knitting Club and Garden Club. In 1991, they made their home in Vincennes, Indiana. She and her husband enjoyed ten wonderful years at their condominium in Naples, Florida. Judith was a beautiful, loving, and cherished wife and mother, with some very special friends. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday afternoon 1:30 p.m.(CST) at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. There is no visitation. Fr. David Fleck officiating.
