Joyce L. Mitchell

Biography Joyce L. Mitchell, 76, of St. Francisville, Illinois passed away Monday, January 12, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born October 5, 1938, in Knox County, Indiana, the daughter of William Thomas and Ola Marie (James) Buchanan. She married Waymond Mitchell on August 30, 1963, and he survives. Joyce worked as a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital for 20 plus years until retirement. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville. Joyce was very active in the church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. Other memberships include Ladies Home Extension and Lawrenceville Garden Club where she was a former treasurer. She also served on the election board and was a volunteer 4-H Leader. Preceding Joyce in death were her parents, and one sister Gloria "Beanie" Davis. Survivors include her husband Waymond Mitchell of St. Francisville and two daughters Tracy Mitchell of St. Francisville and Amy Ochs (Brian) of Sumner. Two grandchildren, Mitchell Ochs and Brady Ochs also survive, along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home Burial will take place in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society, Good Samaritan Hospice, or First Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville with envelopes available through the funeral home.
