Josephine Wimbley

Thelma Josephine Wimbley, age 94, of Lawrenceville, IL, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon at her residence.She was born September 7, 1916 in Lawrence County, IL, the daughter of Joseph Mitchell and Mabel Morris Mitchell. She married Joseph Clifford Wimbley May 29, 1939 and he preceded her in death on March 1, 1985.Surviving are three sons, Don (Sandra) Wimbley of Fairport, New York; Harold Steve (Karen) Wimbley of Lawrenceville, IL; Maurice Moe (Ruthie) Wimbley of Casey, IL; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Several brothers and sisters are deceased.Joe and Josephine had many special young people come into their lives that they considered their family. Josephine was a homemaker and a member of St. James AME Church in Lawrenceville.Visitation will be Friday afternoon from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Portee Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James AME Church in Lawrenceville.
